There are three types of Scruff-A-Luvs at the moment. You may get either a dog, a cat, or a bunny.



It's a mystery what is inside. It could be that dog that you always wanted, or that cat to go with your real cat, or maybe a bunny who will hop all around!



Scruff-A-Luvs are unloved until you decide to love them!



Once you open the Scruff-A-Luvs package, you need to bathe them, dry them, brush them and love them.


The longer you spend cleaning them, the better the Scruff-A-Luvs look.

Every purchase of Scruff-A-Luvs leads to a donation to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).


The ASPCA works to prevent cruelty to animals throughout the United States.


Scruff-A-Luvs come with a grooming brush, a collar, a hair clip, a name tag, and an adoption certificate.



You may wash your Scruff-A-Luvs in a sink or large bowl of water. After you wash Scruff-A-Luvs, you rinse them off in clean water.


Scruff-A-Luvs can be washed more than once.



After washing Scruff-A-Luvs, dry them with a large towel. You also can use a hairdryer.



As you dry their hair, you can continue grooming Scruff-A-Luvs to bring out their inherent cuteness.


If you take good care of your Scruff-A-Luvs, they will be your FFF (Furry Friends Forever).



If you really want to know what kind of animal your Scruff-A-Luvs is before you buy it, you can open the box. The ears are a dead giveaway.


Once they are dry, Scruff-A-Luvs are roughly 9 inches (21 cm) tall in a typical seated position.

One thing that you can determine by simply looking at the box is your Scruff-A-Luvs color. They are either pink or teal.




You have to give your Scruff-A-Luvs a very good wash. Otherwise, they can be a bit sticky.



Scruff-A-Luvs are recommended for ages 5 and up.



Scruff-A-Luvs do not require batteries. Once they are properly bathed and groomed, they become a nice plush toy.



One helpful tip: when you wash your Scruff-A-Luvs, use shampoo and then conditioner. Groom them when they are still wet. You also might want to trim their hair, particularly around the eyes.

You may want to hang your Scruff-A-Luvs somewhere to dry off rather than just using a towel. Or, you may want to put it in your clothes dryer. This is where your technique comes in that determines exactly how your Scruff-A-Luvs look.

Be careful - your child may want to bathe all of their other toys after they get their Scruff-A-Luvs!



It may take a day or two for the inside of your Scruff-A-Luvs to dry. That will depend on things like your climate and humidity.



There are reports of children as young as two years of age loving their Scruff-A-Luvs. However, due to the requirement of washing, it is recommended for slightly older children. So, be forewarned, if you get Scruff-A-Luvs for very young children, you may wind up being the one who washes and grooms them!



Scruff-A-Luvs make great stuffed animals after they are properly washed and groomed. They will last a long time. They can always be washed and groomed again, too.



It should take you about an hour to get your Scruff-A-Luvs in good groomed shape if you use a blow dryer on high. Other methods will vary.

Scruff-A-Luvs are probably best if you want to spend time with your child on the cleaning process. This is prime bonding time. After that, whether or not your child wants to play with it is up to your child, but you will have spent that quality time together on the holiday.
